Wednesday, September 2

Welcome Back Hawks!

Attendance 101 - one of the most important habits for success is regular attendance and being on time. Every class matters. This year, make attendance and punctuality a priority. Start each day ready to learn, ready to contribute and ready to make the most of every opportunity NDSS has to offer.

In your homeroom you will receive the most up to date copy of your timetable. People Place is prioritizing urgent guidance appointments this week. All students must attend the courses on their current schedule until a change, if possible, is made.

Lockers - will be assigned this week in homerooms. If you have a spare period 1, please see a Vice Principal on Thursday or Friday at lunches. Locker change requests will not be processed this week.

Peer Tutoring - if you have arranged your placement, you should go to your classroom and email Mr. Mills to confirm. If you need a classroom, see Mr. Mills asap. Plan to attend the Peer Tutoring meeting in D18 immediately following announcements on Friday.

Photo Day - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th. Come prepared to get your photo taken for school records, yearbook, home and your important digital Student ID. We will not be sending home paper order forms. All students will be given an online code for ordering at time of photo.

Hawks Have Character - this month our focus is on Kindness. Include someone, offer encouragement, show patience or help without being asked. Small acts can make a big difference.

Library - today is the due date for all books borrowed over the summer. Textbooks are available at the hallway distribution window today until next Wednesday. Teachers will direct you. Only Co-op students are permitted in the Library during periods 1-4 this week.

Music Room News - welcome back! We have sign ups happening in C14 this week at lunch. New musicians welcome.

Athletics News - all athletes looking to tryout for Fall sports are invited to Gym 2 today at lunch to sign up.

Jr Football - if interested in playing come to room C18 at the start of lunch.

X Country Runners - seeking new and experienced runners! Come to a brief meeting at lunch on Thursday in B4.

Sr Boys Volleyball - tryouts in Gym 1 tomorrow, Sept 3rd from 2:45 pm. See Mr. Alfredsson for more information.

Weight Room Access - the WR will be open next week at lunches. Permissions and fees must be completed through School-Day before first use.

We begin the year with a simple challenge: choose kindness. A kind word, a welcoming smile, or helping someone who needs it can make a bigger difference than you realize. Let's make NDSS a place where everyone feels they belong. Hawks Have Character!

Student Mental Health and Wellness Symposium - we are looking for 5-8 students to participate in the full day symposium on October 5th. Interested students please see Ricki, our Adolescent Care Worker in her office beside A1.

Online Classes Waitlist - please check your Limestone emails daily and if you receive confirmation that you are officially registered in a course, stop by People Place to have it put on your timetable. Please let PP know asap if you no longer want to be on the list.
