What is Summer School?
Summer School is an opportunity to earn credits towards your highschool diploma in the month of July.

Who can attend Summer School?
Any student can go to Summer School either to earn a new credit or upgrade course marks in a course where a mark is low or credit has not been granted.

What credits are offered at Summer School?
Students can earn 1 new credit by attending full days at Summer School. Students can upgrade a mark or improve on a failing mark by attending half days. Two credits can be upgraded this way. Generally a student will need to have a mark of at least 35% to upgrade. Students with less than 35% will need to take the Summer School course as a new course.

What courses are offered at Summer School?
Courses at all grade levels are offered. Summer School offers core credits, such as Mathematics, English, Science, Canadian History, Canadian Geography, Civics and Careers. Option courses are generally not offered at Summer School.

Where is Summer School offered?
Summer School is offered jointly by the Public and Separate Boards in our area. The location alternates each year, usually being offered at either Bayridge Secondary School or Holy Cross Secondary School.

When is Summer School offered?
Summer School is offered for 20 weekdays in July. Basically this takes up the entire month.

Is transporation provided?
Transportation is provided in a similar fashion to our late bus routes.

When will I know if I need to attend Summer School?
Any student who has previously failed a course or is at risk of failing a course in semester 2 should consider attending Summer School.
