April in Paris... Hawks continue their adventures
Wednesday April 12 we were in Paris!

After a morning guided bus tour, we walked along the Champs Elysses down through the Tuileries gardens, which were in full bloom, to the Louvre. Needless to say the 2 hours we spent here was not enough time to really see the Louvre, but the Mona Lisa was definitely one we sought out. Winged Victory and the Venus de Milo statue were two others that most made sure to see.

Our late afternoon found us walking and enjoying the wonderful sights and sounds of Paris. We were surprised at the amount of security and the police presence. We were told later that Tom Cruise is in town filming a movie, and we passed by the crew quarters on the way through the park.

We ventured on the Metro as well as a public bus. The crowds remind us how fortunate we are to life in a city which does not have such crushing crowds.

Thoughts of the First World War and the devastation in Paris were things we tried to visualize here in keeping with the early part of our trip.
